The Government is practically defrauding the nation. The UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi herself selects all the sub-power centres or her coterie. But, by and large, the Union Ministry is packed with pygmies. Even the experienced Ministers do not have the courage to discuss pros and cons of critical matters falling under their domain with 10 Janpath. He is not being truthful. When Afzal's date of execution approached, the J&K Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad stated openly, "If Afzal Guru is executed, the Valley will be on fire." From Sonia Gandhi to Manmohan Singh and the Home Minister, everybody buckled under the threat. Who is this Afzal Guru? He was the chief architect of the terrorist attack on the highest temple of Indian democracy -- the Parliament. The high voltage terrorist attack was challenged by Delhi Police, whose personnel sacrificed their lives to save the lives of a large number of MPs including the PM and Home Minister who were inside the Parliament. The provocation was so great that the Govt directed forces to prepare for a war with Pakistan. Troops moved towards the border and took positions. For months they were awaiting orders from Delhi. A couple of top strategists of India, however, succeeded in avoiding the war. The person who brought an Indo-Pak war so near has been practically let off the gallows. Great deal of deliberations in the Congress decided to put the matter in the cold storage. From day one. The high command and the Congress led Govt felt that executing Afzal would nullify dozens of Government decisions for appeasing Muslims and this one step would make the Muslims angry against the Congress. In this background Shivraj Patil's above quoted reply is nothing but a fraud perpetrated on the national security. In a way, after repealing POTA, it was the second largest gesture by the Govt towards extremists in general and terrorists in particular. The Home Minister's reply was a total let off. Similarly, horrendous mismanagement of Indian economy has resulted in its downward slide. On the price-rise front, the Aam Aadmi's life has become miserable. Inflation rate has tripled from 4 to 12 per cent, which is highest in sixteen years. At times, the Finance Minister and other Govt spokespersons said that the price rise is an international phenomenon. They picked up examples from small backward countries to prove their statements. The FM's has continuously been assuring that steps are being taken to check inflation. Banks have been told to initiate steps to decrease inflationary pressure, but nothing is working. The FM also stated that within two to three months the situation would improve. Election oriented populist moves, increase in prices of Govt controlled commodities thrice a year, from milk to steel, diesel and petrol has nourished the inflation from one height to another. Wheat imports smell of corruption. The Agriculture Ministry is advertising claims of higher wheat production while the Government is planning further imports. False assurances and uncoordinated governance have resulted in an economic mess. International rating agencies, who once created hope of emergence of Indian economy as a whole, have started downgrading India's economic indices. In 2008, GDP growth rate was expected to be nearly 9 per cent but now they say that the growth rate may be somewhere around 7.5 per cent. The UPA Govt has created such a poor image of India that even Nepal's new PM deemed it fit to visit China first and India later. The much talked about Indo-US N-deal which, at best, would increase power production by 15 per cent at a much costlier rate, has increased India's dependence on the US. Indo-US 123 agreement did not have the majority's support in the Parliament. J&K is on fire without Afzal Guru being hanged. On August 15, separatists in the Valley unfurled Pakistan flags with gusto and raised anti-India slogans with glee. In the recent weeks, Kashmir Valley terrorists and anti-national separatists assaulted the Indian nationhood. The spirit of nationalism has been diluted during the UPA rule beyond imagination. Samajwadi Party and its ilk, including the Congress, sympathise with SIMI, which has openly declared Jihad against India. SIMI and its associate organisations have killed hundreds of innocent people in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Varanasi. Ahemdabad, Jaipur and Banglore. UPA Govt has been unprecedently soft towards all the Afzal Gurus and SIMIs. God save the country. Courtesy: www.dailypioneer.com, August 31, 2008 |
